Mallorca is the largest of the islands in the Balearic Islands.
This group of sun blessed islands is located in the western part of the Mediterranean Sea and belongs to Spain. The other islands in the Balearic group are Minorca, Ibiza and Formentera. Mallorca is approximately 100 x 80 kilometres.
The majority of the resident population (approximately 60%) are supported by tourism, approximately 30% by agriculture and the rest of the population on light industry – mostly glass, ceramics and furniture.

Pharmacies in Majorca are easily recognisable by green crosses.
There are pharmacies in most resorts and they are open the same hours as ordinary shops.
Postal Services:
Post offices in Mallorca are usually open from 09:00 – 21:00 every weekday. Every Saturday between 09:00 – 14:00. Stamps can be bought in newsagents and often, the hotels in Palma and other resorts can help with that from the reception. Similarly, most hotels can arrange for your postcards and other mail to get to a mailbox.
Car Hire Mallorca:
You can hire a car and it is a convenient way of getting around the island and enables you to get to some very scenic spots. Car rental in Mallorca is available at similar prices to mainland Spain.
Mallorca Public Transport:
The bus network in Mallorca is extensive and works great.
In principle, the whole island is covered by local buses and regular, frequent and reasonable prices make this a good way to get around the island by. In Palma you’ll also find the train station, Placa d’Espanya with lines to Soller and Inca. One small caution, however, bus drivers are not always so nice and helpful as you might expect !.
